Macbook Pro Retina 13″

Hi everyone! I am now back up a running as I have brought my first every Macbook pro! I went for the new retina version in the 13″ screen with the smallest memory. I am just getting to know how it all works as I am brand new to the world of mac’s, however so far I am loving it!

My new toy!

My new toy!

It looks so slick and beautiful and I love the keyboard, it makes it really easy to type quick, and having worked as a secretary for so many years before my current job, I have one heck of a typing speed!

I did also try to purchase a new camera from John Lewis but the service was absolutely rubbish! No one could give me advice on which one was right for me so not only did they lose the sale of a camera but I could’ve also brought my laptop from them too! They need to learn from the apple store where I received excellent service!

So if anyone has any tips on a camera to buy then let me know – main use will be for taking pics of my blog and also on holidays, days out etc.

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday evening!

My first blogging event – Blognix June 2014

Hey everyone, how is your week going? Well don’t worry cause its Friday tomorrow! Woo hoo!

Just thought I would let you all know about a blogging event I am attending in June. Its called Blognix and it was started by Elizabeth Sellers (aka Rosalilium) and its a conference where bloggers, new and established, can come along and listen to some fantastic speakers talk about a range of different topics relating to the world of blogging.

As I am fairly new to this blogging malarkey I thought I would check it out, even though this day was meant to be a day of pampering and being spoilt as it is the weekend before my 30th Birthday, I decided to book anyway!

The event is based down in the custard factory in Birmingham, which is a brilliant venue as it is a hub for creative individuals and has a wonderful atmosphere.

If you would like more information on Blognix then check out there website here or to buy tickets you can go straight to eventbrite

I am really looking forward to learning more about the world of blogging and meeting some inspirational people.

Hopefully I will see some of you there!

Have a great day!

No Spend Month!

Hi everyone,

This post was due to go up at the weekend, but my laptop is still have a breakdown, so once again I apologise!

April see’s the start of a no spend month (apart from the ‘necessities’) due to completely over spending last month. I went totally crazy with my debit and credit cards last month so I need to put a padlock on my purse!

Empty purse!

Empty purse!

The only things I am allowing myself to purchase this month is a new laptop, as I definitely think mine has had enough! That in itself is going to be pretty expensive (I have my eye on a new Macbook pro retina laptop!) and I am also hoping for another trip to Ikea to get a new desk and chest of drawers to organise all my stuff as our spare room is beginning to look like its been burgled!

But don’t worry, I will still have lots of things to blog about (hopefully!). Due to my continuous shopping spree last month I am way behind on hauls and reviews on those bits and I also want to do an ‘About me’ post which I mentioned last time, so you can get to know me a little bit!

Hopefully, I will be able to get another post on this week (technology depending!)

Have a good week guys!

A trip to London

This post was meant to go up yesterday but due to my laptop having a serious meltdown (think its time for me to invest in a new one – anyone got any suggestions?) I have had to sneek into work early to write it!

It will only be a short one today, however, and next month see’s a month of catching up on all things that I have brought in the last few weeks and haven’t had chance to write about and also any old favourites I have rediscovered!

Monday morning saw me up at the crack of dawn (4.45am to be precise) to get on a train to London for a Fundraising Conference. I think I will do an ‘About Me’ post in April too so you can find out about my role as a fundraiser and other fascinating facts (not!) about me!

For once there were no train delays and I was lucky enough not to have to face rush hour on the tube as I walked from Marylebone to the Conference Centre, which was at the end of Harley Street. I kept thinking, as I was walking down Harley Street, whether there were any famous people having some work done. All the buildings are pretty grand down there and I got very curious!

Anyhow, after a day of listening to some fabulous speakers, I had a bit of time to kill before my train was due to leave so, as Regent Street was just round the corner, I made for Liberty’s! On the way, I spotted Kiko and went inside to have a look – I wish I’d had more time to browse all the lovely eyeshadows, they were beautiful! Will definitely have to go back soon to pick up a few jewels!

I love Liberty’s, for its building inside and out, and for the unusual layout of the store, where unless you are a regular visitor you never know which section you are going stumble onto next! I resisted all the temptations of the beauty counters having had a major shopping session in Birmingham that weekend (more of that to come in another post!) but just wandered around aimlessly to smiley counter assistants and the beautiful smells of the perfume counters!

I then decided to navigate my way back to the train station, getting slightly lost and stumbling across John Bell & Croydon and recognised from a blog post and possibly a haul I saw Lily Pebbles do, and knew I had to spare 5 minutes to have a browse! It was a magical place full of different brands that I had heard of on the blogging world but had never come across in Birmingham. I did succumb to a few purchases (again more on that in another post!)!

I will defiantly try to do more wandering around London in the future as you never know what you are going to find!

This post is very wordy, sorry about that! So here is a pic of a little treat I picked up on Oxford Street for my journey home!

Bens Cookies and a Caramel Steamed Milk! Yummy!

Ben’s Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cookie and a Caramel Steamed Milk from AMT! Yummy!

Computer depending I will get another post up on Sunday!

Have a great Friday everyone!

(p.s. just realised that this is actually quite a long post! Sorry!)

Lulu Guinness Birchbox

When I saw that Birchbox were doing a special edition with Lulu Guinness I signed up immediately! I couldn’t wait to open the box…

Lovely Lulu Guinness Design

Inside waiting for me was this lovely lot

Goodies inside...

Sorry for the blurry image!

English Laundry Perfume

English Laundry Perfume

Inside was a lovely sample of English Laundry Perfume from Christopher Wicks which I have fallen in love with just by smelling the bottle – I have yet to test in on naked skin!! I am rubbish at describing scents so I have taken the description from the card included with the box “A divine delicate fragrance with elegant notes of quince, jasmine petals and musk” It is definitely divine and elegant! A full bottle of this may have to go onto the birthday wish list.

Korres Citrus Body Milk

Korres Citrus Body Milk

Next out of the bag (or box) of goodies was the Korres Citrus Body Milk. Now I just tried this on the back of my hand and it doesn’t smell very citrusy at all! I think it smells quite manly, if that makes any sense at all! It has made my hand quite soft but I am not so sure I am keen on the scent!

Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose hand cream

Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose hand cream

What follows a manly smell is the delicious scent of the Molton Brown Rhubarb & Rose Replenishing Hand Cream – oh my, oh my, oh my it smells so much like those rhubarb and custard sweets you used to eat or a hot-pot of stewed rhubarb, it makes me want to lick it! I may have to get me a bigger tube of this, I can’t stopped sniffing my hand!

Dr Brandt Pores no more is as the name suggests a pore refiner. This has quit a medicated smell (it’s all about the smells today) I haven’t had chance to try it out yet but The Sunday Girl has got me intrigued with her review here.

The last beauty product in the bag/box is the Benefit Stay Don’t Stray which is an eye primer. I have never used an eye primer before as I have never felt the need as my eyeshadows tend to stay put for the majority of the time I need them there. I must either have really good eyeshadow or non-slippery eyelids!! I will give it a go and let you know my thoughts.

The final item in the box was a stick of stripey rock! May have to pass on eating this as I have never been a fan of the stuff, however it is quite pretty so may keep it for show!

The Lulu Guinnes Special Edition may still be available, but hurry March is nearly over!

My First….

Space NK Purchases!!

I was like a kid in a candy shop! All the lovely bottles and tubes of beauty items I have read reviews about and watched videos on were on the lovely shelves in the Leamington Spa store.

I have never really been into a Space NK store before, bar the few shelves in Harvey Nic’s in Birmingham’s Mailbox, so to be able to go into an actual store and browse was exciting to say the least!

Now for the part you have all been waiting for, the purchases… well don’t get too excited as I played it pretty safe bearing in mind I was quite overwhelmed and I had my best friend and her 3 year old with me!

Whats inside....

Whats inside….

I brought the Nuxe Reve De Miel Lip Balm which smells lovely and I can’t wait test it out, and the Caudalie Beauty Elixir – I am not too sure about the smell of this or what it is meant to actually do, but I thought I would give it a go anyway!

Goodies!

Goodies!

Full reviews will follow in due course!

I have a slight suspicion that I may be a regular in our more local Space NK store in Solihull, and I have already created an online wish list! Think the next purchase may possibly be the Aromatherapy Associates Deep Relax Bath and Shower Oil! So to be continued…..

My exciting little win!

Monday morning was, as you will know if you read my last post, my hubbies birthday and I had the day off. I am very much pleased that I did as the postman came with a little delivery for me in the morning which I had been waiting for for what seemed an age!

About a month ago I entered a prize giveaway from one of my favourite youtubers Samloves – check out her blog here and also her youtube channel here. Well lo and behold I won! I had never won anything in a prize giveaway before and to say I was thrilled is possibly the understatement of the century!

Having been feeling down for quite a while since my accident and then for the last week feeling rubbish with a stinky flu cold thing that my husband kindly decided to pass on to me – a present I did not wish to receive – this brightened up my day, my week, my year possibly even my life (maybe a tad over the top there!).

I bet you are wondering what could possibly bring me so much joy – well my very first chanel and illamasqua products of course!

ChanelI have never been able to justify some of the prices of the high-end market brands, I am the one standing at the counters not touching just gazing at their beauty! But I am now the proud owner of the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel Bronze Universel Bronzing Make-up Base and the just as beautiful Illamasqua Cream Blusher in the colour rude.

Out goes all decorum and in comes me dancing around the living room in my dressing gown in front of both my husband and my father-in-law!

These products are just sheer luxury for me and I couldn’t wait to try them out.

Illamasqua

I tried the Illamasqua blush straight away and it is a gorgeous creamy warm peachy shade perfect for spring. However, the Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel kinda scared me a little! It looked beautiful in its packaging and for want of not disturbing its beauty and not having a clue how to use it, I popped it back in its box and went on the hunt for youtube videos to show me the way!

Cue to today, when I definitely needed all the help I could get in the make-up department as my skin is so dull, spotty and pale due to being ill that I decided today was the day I branched out and used this fantastic product!

Chanel bronzer

It was actually a lot easier to use that I thought – I was perhaps a little light handed as it looks quite dark in the pot – I started applying on to my freshly moisturised skin under my foundation to add a bit of contouring, but actually found that it wasnt going on as dark as I had originally thought it would so then I decided to apply over my foundation to add a bit more of a contour and an overall glow!

I then added a bit of my illamasqua blusher and away I went! They both went on beautifully and lasted all day, I am one for saving for nice things for best, which is definitely the way I am feeling about these products especially as I have a pretty bad feeling that I am going to get use to these high-end products and have my eye on the Chanel Vitalumerie foundation and a lovely eye compact from Chanel too! My bank balance won’t thank me!

What high-end products can you not live without?
